embarking on the egyptian capstone…

BGD Scholars spent an entire year training and studying before their capstone. Activities included taking Arabic and learning about the culture. They visited the National Geographic special exhibit, “The Queens of Egypt” to learn about the history of remarkable female leaders in Egyptian history. They also learned about the formal wear of women in Egypt and spent a day taking a sewing class where they made their own hijab. After participating in various educational experiences and engaged in SCUBA training for advanced open water certification, BGD scholars took the journey to Egypt for one week. The experience started with diving in Sharm El Sheikh at national marine parks that include Ras Muhammed and the Straits of Tiran for the first few days. Thereafter, participants spent time in Cairo, visiting the Pyramids of Giza, the National Egyptian Museum and the Papyrus Institute, and cruising the Nile River
